Adam Conter was elected the next Students' Society president by a landslide, garnering 58.5 per cent of the vote. His opponent, Kristóf Karcza, earned 2,042 votes, and 712 students spoiled their ballots.

"I'm really excited about the voter turnout," Conter said, referring to the 35.8 per cent of students who voted. "Highest voter turnout in history? Awesome."

Karcza said that he was surprised at the number of votes he earned, considering he only campaigned for a single day.

"It doesn't matter who wins," he said, "but the promises Adam made-if he carries them through, it would be perfect."

Conter said that he would immediately begin building contacts with campus groups for next year.

"I'm going to start before May first," he said. "I'm going to work on learning the job."

Current acting President Andrew Bryan, who has already promised to work with the winning candidate until the end of his own term, said that voters made the right choice, but that Conter has a difficult task ahead of him.

"He certainly has a lot to learn," he said. "He will have to read a lot of dry documents and come to many meetings-partly to learn, and partly so he can start deciding what he wants to improve."
