This is not to say that the American Office doesn't have its merits. By and large, the best part of the American Office is the new characters that are not featured in the British version. One example is the original American character portrayed by The Daily Show's Ed Helms. Helms' character Andy Bernard is a WASP-y suck-up whose irritating mannerisms and love of a cappella drive the other characters crazy. Bernard's attempts to fit in with the rest of the office produce some of the show's funniest lines. Another notable original character is Toby Flenderson. Toby, the H.R. representative, symbolizes the more logical, good-hearted side of the American Office. Naturally, he is Michael's nemesis and is often chastised by Michael in disproportionately hilarious ways. Now that Toby is gone, so is one of the best elements of the American Office.
So far, season five is lacking in what makes the American Office enjoyable, and it seems to be getting closer and closer to jumping the shark. Perhaps the last good thing about the British version is that it knew when to die with dignity.

Based upon this analysis of the show, I get the feeling like it's never going to be good enough for you. If it were an exact copy of the UK version, you'd be slamming it for being a copycat. (Continued…)

I would have to agree whole-heartedly with that post.
I enjoyed the first two seasons of the US version but they have forgotten what the show is about and the new series have become completely unoriginal and unrealistic. (Continued…)
